Lightning Source opens new UK facility and appoints Dave Piper as UK Managing Director

“Lightning Source has a wonderful new facility in the UK,” said David Taylor, President of Lightning Source. “Our new home has been designed with one aim in mind – to serve our customers better.

“We have grown our production space by a factor of five, there by allowing us to rapidly add new products and services, all of which are being developed in an increasingly close working relationship with our key customers,” Mr. Taylor continued.

The new Lightning Source UK location is a modern 88,000 square foot facility in Milton Keynes with a production and distribution area of approximately 60,000 square feet. With the move now complete to a larger facility, additional equipment will be added to build upon the capacity and product range already available from the Lightning Source UK operation.

Along with the opening of the new facility, Mr. Piper has assumed the role of Managing Director, Lightning Source UK, reporting to Mr. Taylor, President of Lightning Source. Mr. Piper was previously the Deputy Managing Director of the division.

“Dave has done a tremendous job as deputy Managing Director since he joined us at the beginning of the year,” Mr. Taylor said. “He played a central role in the relocation of the UK business to our new facility, a move which went seamlessly. I am delighted to be able to announce his elevation into the full Managing Director role for the UK business.”

Mr. Piper will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Lightning Source UK in addition to looking after the expansion of the UK facility, growing product and service offerings, increasing sales and improving overall efficiency.

Prior to Lightning Source UK, Mr. Piper was the Operations Director for Beiersdorf UK Ltd., where he developed new strategies, implemented programs which reduced costs, increased productivity and market share, and improved teamwork within the company.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Piper held several senior management positions with Smith and Nephew Consumer Products Ltd. helping to develop major brands such as Nivea and Elastoplast.
