Students, college bookstores can now benefit from the new NACSCORP, Lightning Source alliance

LA VERGNE, TN - College students and the bookstores that serve them are now able to benefit from the new "win-win" alliance between Lightning Source Inc. SM and NACSCORP, Inc., a wholly-owned for profit subsidiary of the National Association of College Stores (NACS).

The two companies' new business relationship, which became operational on December 3, 2001, will make over 32,000 orderable titles in Lightning's digital library readily available to the nearly 4,000 college bookstores across the country served by NACSCORP.

Lightning's print-on-demand and fulfillment services will be available through NACSCORP. NACSCORP is a recognized leader serving the nationwide college store market for more than 38 years as a wholesale distributor and retail services provider offering a full range of college textbooks, trade books, and technology products.

Colleen White, Associate Director of the University of Southern Maine Bookstores, said the new NACSCORP-Lightning Source alliance is welcome news for the academic market.

"As the text manager of a regional university bookstore, I am very excited about NACSCORP'S launch of Lightning Source, a print-on-demand titles service," she said. "Hard to find and out of print titles that are easily accessible, printed in book format, and with no minimum order quantity and no inventory risk? What more can we ask for!"

All NACSCORP customers will now have greater access to one of the largest selections of print-on-demand titles in the industry, officials explained.

"The launch of Print-on-Demand services is another step forward by NACSCORP towards offering content in what ever form our customers desire," said Pamela Sedmak, President and Chief Operating Officer of NACSCORP. "Print-on-Demand titles will allow NACSCORP and its partners in the higher education publishing community to fulfill the needs of college bookstores, students and faculty today by offering out of print and hard to find titles in an easy convenient manner."

Ed Marino, President and CEO of Lightning Source Inc. said the new alliance expands the distribution of Lightning Source print-on-demand titles even further.

"This obviously brings an important new tool to college store managers in serving their own customers with the influx of new title selections and fulfillment options," Marino said, " it also greatly enhances the retail distribution opportunities for our publishers. It's a win-win for everyone involved."
